Welcome to Cornwall – Ontario’s easternmost city. With a small population of just over 55,000 people Cornwall is a great place to raise a family, or escape to for a relaxing vacation away from hectic big city life.
Aboriginal peoples have lived in and around the area of Cornwall for millennia. The first European settlement in Cornwall was established in 1784 by United Empire Loyalists.
Cornwall was once home to a thriving cotton processing industry – operating a rayon manufacturing plant that once employed nearly 3,000 people. Cornwall’s present day economy has diversified and now includes mix of manufacturing, automotive, high tech, food processing, and call centers.
The city of Cornwall hosts festivals and special community events including; Canada Day festivities, and "Lift Off" hot air balloon festival. Lift off is an annual festival focused on hot air balloons, with carnival rides and live music performances. This festival attracts people from all over, and is a one of a kind experience.
Sports lovers will be pleased to know that Cornwall has competitive hockey, swimming, soccer and rugby teams. All teams train in Cornwall and compete at provincial and national levels.
